Using Video Coach

Video Coach turns a screen recording of a Clash Royale replay into a written review of that battle. Up to 3 reviews a day, 10 a month on a paid plan, and the video stays on your phone unless you choose to send it to us.

Video Coach turns a screen recording of one Clash Royale battle into a written review: what went right, what went wrong, the key moments, and one thing to practice. You record the battle's replay, TrophyCoach reads the recording on your own device, and the finished review is saved to your account. Video Coach is in beta for subscribers, so it may not be visible on every account yet.

How do I record a battle for Video Coach?

Record the replay of a battle you already played:

  1. Turn on Do Not Disturb (or a Focus mode) first. A notification banner over the cards hides plays from the review.
  2. Open the battle in your Battle Log in Clash Royale.
  3. Start the iPhone screen recording from Control Center (the record button) before you press Replay.
  4. Press Replay and let it run all the way to the result screen, then stop the recording.
  5. Open Video Coach from your TrophyCoach account and choose the recording from your Photos.

Video Coach reviews Trophy Road, Ranked, Friendly, Classic 1v1, Tournament and clan-war 1v1 battles. It does not review 2v2, challenges, other events or hosted matches.

Which phones and browsers does Video Coach work on?

Video Coach reads screen recordings made on an iPhone with the built-in screen recorder. Reading a recording takes about a minute on a recent iPhone and several minutes in a desktop browser. If your recording's screen size is not supported yet, Video Coach tells you before anything is sent and no review is used.

What happens after I choose my recording?

Before anything is sent, Video Coach shows a short check of the recording: the battle it found, and whether the quality is good, fair or poor. You then confirm the review.

The recording is read on your device first. Once that is done and your review is on its way, you can leave the page. Your review appears under Your reviews in your account, and we email you when it is ready.

How many reviews can I get?

  • 3 reviews a day.
  • 10 reviews a month on a paid plan.
  • 2 reviews in total during a free trial.

Video Coach has its own limits. Battle Analysis and the coach chat are separate, and they are not counted against these.

A review that fails, or a recording that is too short or too unreadable to review, does not use one of your reviews. If a review fails after you confirmed it, the review is given back to you automatically.

What is in a Video Coach review?

  • A short summary of the battle and its result.
  • What went right and what went wrong, tied to specific plays.
  • Key moments, each labeled with the in-game clock, so you can jump to that point in your replay.
  • Habits that showed up across the battle.
  • One thing to practice in your next games.
  • A recording-quality note that says which stretches of the recording could not be read, so you know what the review did not see.

If your recording stops before the result screen, the review covers what was recorded and says it does not know how the battle ended.

Is my video private?

Yes. The recording is read on your device and the video stays there. TrophyCoach does not receive or store your video, unless you choose to send it to us after a review (see below).

What is sent is a play-by-play of the battle (what was played and when) and a few pictures of the arena and of cards in hand. An AI provider, Anthropic, uses them to write your review. The pictures are deleted within 24 hours. Your play-by-play and finished review stay in your account until you delete it, and deleting your account removes them along with any pictures still stored. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.

Can TrophyCoach keep my pictures to fix a mistake?

Only if you say yes. When you flag something in a review as wrong, and the review's pictures have not been deleted yet, Video Coach asks: "Help us fix this? Keep this review's screenshots for 14 days so we can check what went wrong."

  • No (or not answering) keeps the usual rule: the pictures are deleted within 24 hours.
  • Yes keeps that one review's pictures for 14 days. Only the TrophyCoach team looks at them, to work out what the review misread, and they are deleted after 14 days.
  • You can change your mind: Delete my screenshots now on the review deletes them straight away.

Deleting your account deletes them too, whatever you answered.

Can I send TrophyCoach my video?

Only if you choose to. When you tap Not really on "Did this review help?", or flag something in a review as wrong, Video Coach may ask: "Send us the video?" Watching the recording is the fastest way for the team to see what the review got wrong.

  • No thanks (or not answering) sends nothing. Your feedback is saved either way.
  • Send video uploads that review's recording: the whole recording as it is: its sound, anything else on your screen while you recorded (like notifications), and the details saved in the file, like when and on what phone it was recorded. If the page no longer has it, you pick the same recording again from your Photos; a different recording is never sent.
  • Only the TrophyCoach team watches it, only to fix Video Coach, and it is never shared or posted. It is deleted 30 days after you send it.
  • Delete my video now on the review deletes it straight away. Deleting your account deletes it too.

Recordings are a few hundred MB, so Wi-Fi is best, and keep the page open until it is done.

Frequently asked questions

How many Video Coach reviews do I get a day?

You get up to 3 reviews a day, and up to 10 a month on a paid plan. During a free trial you get 2 in total.

Does Video Coach upload my video?

Not unless you choose to. The recording is read on your device. Only a play-by-play and a few pictures of the arena and of cards in hand are sent, and the pictures are deleted within 24 hours, unless you flag a mistake and agree to let us keep them for 14 days. After a review you did not like, you can choose to send us the recording; it is deleted after 30 days.

Why did my recording not get a review?

The most common causes are a notification covering the screen, a recording that does not reach the battle, or a battle mode Video Coach does not review (2v2, challenges, events, hosted matches). Turn on Do Not Disturb, record the whole replay to the result screen, and try again. A recording that could not be reviewed does not use one of your reviews.

Do I have to keep the page open?

Once your recording has been read on your device and your review is on its way, you can close the page. We email you when the review is ready, and it is saved under Your reviews.

Does a failed review count against my limit?

No. A review that fails is given back to you automatically, so your daily and monthly count goes back up.

How long are my Video Coach reviews kept?

Your reviews and their play-by-play stay in your account until you delete the account. Deleting your account removes them, along with any pictures still stored. You can do that from Account Settings.

Is Video Coach part of Pro?
