Clash of Clans WWE: Search for Cena Event Guide (September 2026): Every Date, Troop, and Reward

Quick answer: The WWE: Search for Cena event runs September 1–30, 2026 in Clash of Clans. The centerpiece is the John Cena Challenge: Challenger Contracts earned from WWE Chests each grant 24 hours of access to attempt Cena's base, a 2-star minimum earns the Cody's Callout decoration, and a global leaderboard ranks the fastest completion times. Around it sit four rotating temporary WWE troops (Yeti Undertaker, K.A.N.E, Yeeter, and Giant Giant), five WWE Hero Skins arriving between September 3 and September 10, and the Jey Uso Minion Prince skin as the September Gold Pass exclusive.

WWE: Search for Cena runs September 1–30, 2026 and packs 16 dated windows into 30 days: the John Cena Challenge with its global fastest-time leaderboard, four rotating temporary WWE troops (Yeti Undertaker at 80 housing, K.A.N.E at 75, Giant Giant at 50, Yeeter at 45), five WWE Hero Skins landing between September 3 and September 10, two 48-hour Collector Boosts, a 5-day Equipment Boost that sets all Hero Equipment to maximum level, Clan War League from September 1–11, and Clan Games from September 22–28. The event also arrives two days after the August 30, 2026 game update, which added Diggy levels 11–15, rebuilt the end-of-battle screen, and began retiring the Starter Pass — the update gets its own section below.

What Is the Full WWE: Search for Cena Schedule?

The WWE: Search for Cena calendar stacks overlapping windows across all 30 days of September. Every date Supercell published:

DatesWhat's on
September 1–30WWE: Search for Cena event window — John Cena Challenge live all month
September 1–30September Gold Pass — exclusive reward: Jey Uso Hero Skin (Minion Prince)
September 1–6 and 9–22Battle Options — mid-battle choice: bank a Gold bonus OR tag in WWE troops
September 1–5Money in the Bank Rush — clan collective Gold farming; distributes WWE Chests
September 1–11Clan War League — 15v15 or 30v30
September 2–30Money in the Bank XL scenery
September 3–30Cody Rhodes Hero Skin (Barbarian King)
September 5–30Alexa Bliss Hero Skin (Archer Queen)
September 7–30Iyo Sky Hero Skin (Royal Champion)
September 8–30Kane Hero Skin (Dragon Duke)
September 9–22WWE Equipment Blast — earn Tag Tickets in battles; unlock troops and Champ Medals; distributes WWE Chests
September 10–30American Badass Undertaker Hero Skin (Grand Warden)
September 12–14 and 26–28Collector Boosts — 4× production for 48 hours, TH8+
September 15Mash-A-Rama scenery set returns — permanently
September 16–21Equipment Boost — ALL Hero Equipment at maximum level for 5 days, TH8+
September 22–28Clan Games

Two structural things to read off that table. First, the WWE Chest supply has exactly two faucets: Money in the Bank Rush (September 1–5) and WWE Equipment Blast (September 9–22). Miss both and you are not opening chests. Second, the Battle Options windows (September 1–6 and 9–22) track the chest events almost exactly — the mid-battle choice between banking a Gold bonus and tagging in WWE troops exists while those events are feeding you rewards for battling.

How Does the John Cena Challenge Work?

The John Cena Challenge is a gated challenge base with a timer attached. The loop has three parts:

  1. Earn Challenger Contracts from event Chests. Contracts are one of the WWE Chest reward types, alongside Ore, skins, and equipment.
  2. Each Contract grants 24 hours of access to attempt Cena's base. The clock is per contract, not per event — burning a Contract when you cannot play that day wastes the window.
  3. Score at least 2 stars to earn the Cody's Callout decoration. A global leaderboard separately tracks the fastest completion times, so the base doubles as a speedrun event for players chasing rankings rather than just the decoration.

The practical rule falls straight out of the structure: do not open a Challenger Contract until you have time to attack inside the next 24 hours. The decoration needs only a 2-star, but the leaderboard rewards repeated attempts within a window, and both burn the same 24-hour access.

What Are the Four WWE Temporary Troops?

Four temporary WWE troops rotate through the event rather than all being available at once — check which is live before building an army around one:

TroopHousingWhat it does
Yeti Undertaker805× damage to walls; revives twice, each time with Skeletons; scales up to +50% health and +60% anger
K.A.N.E75P.E.K.K.A-class heavy fighter
Giant Giant50Roughly 10× standard Giant stats; ignores Spring Traps
Yeeter45Spawns 4 Tribal Tag Team members on deployment

The Yeti Undertaker is the one worth planning around: 80 housing buys a wall-shredding tank that has to be killed three times (twice reviving with Skeleton escorts), which distorts single-target defenses badly. The Giant Giant's Spring Trap immunity removes the standard answer to heavy pushes — at ~10× Giant stats, the usual "bounce it" defense simply is not available. Yeeter is the value pick at 45 housing since its 4 spawned Tribal Tag Team members come free.

WWE troops are also one half of the Battle Options mechanic (September 1–6 and 9–22): mid-battle, you choose between banking a Gold bonus or tagging in WWE troops. Farming days take the Gold; pushing or challenge days take the tag.

What Is Inside the WWE Chests?

WWE Chests are the event's reward container, distributed through Money in the Bank Rush (September 1–5) and WWE Equipment Blast (September 9–22). The published contents pool:

  • Ore (the upgrade currency for Hero Equipment — see the Hero Equipment guide for where each Ore tier matters)
  • Magic Snacks
  • Event Medals
  • Decorations
  • Action Figure Epic Equipment
  • Prior Gold Pass skins — past-season exclusives back in circulation
  • Challenger Contracts — the John Cena Challenge access tokens

Two of those are unusual enough to flag. Prior Gold Pass skins returning through a chest pool is rare; if you missed a season skin, this is a stated route back to it. And the Action Figure Epic Equipment drops from chests directly — a piece of Epic Equipment in a monthly event reward pool rather than behind a dedicated event track.

Money in the Bank Rush itself is a clan-collective event: the Gold your clan farms contributes Diamonds toward a shared track, and completing it earns the Money in the Bank Title decoration. It runs only September 1–5, so a clan that starts slow has no time to recover — the farming guide covers how to raise Gold-per-hour when a collective clock is running.

Which WWE Hero Skins Are Coming, and When?

Five WWE Hero Skins arrive on a staggered schedule, each a one-time purchase at $9.99, and each stays available through September 30:

SkinHeroAvailable
Cody RhodesBarbarian KingSeptember 3–30
Alexa BlissArcher QueenSeptember 5–30
Iyo SkyRoyal ChampionSeptember 7–30
KaneDragon DukeSeptember 8–30
American Badass UndertakerGrand WardenSeptember 10–30

The Kane skin lands on the Dragon Duke; if you have not built out the hero yet, the Dragon Duke guide covers its kit and upgrade path. Separately from the paid skins, the September Gold Pass exclusive is the Jey Uso Hero Skin for the Minion Prince, available the full September 1–30 window.

Two sceneries round out the cosmetics: Money in the Bank XL (September 2–30), and the Mash-A-Rama set, which returns on September 15 permanently — the one cosmetic here with no deadline attached.

How Should You Plan September 2026?

Play the first five days. Money in the Bank Rush (September 1–5) is one of only two WWE Chest sources and it is clan-collective — your clan's Gold farming from day one determines the Diamond track. It also fully overlaps the first Battle Options window and the start of Clan War League (September 1–11), so the month's busiest stretch is its opening week.

Bank Challenger Contracts for days you can actually play. Each Contract's 24-hour clock starts when you use it. A Contract opened before a workday is a Contract wasted; opened on a free weekend it can fund a dozen leaderboard attempts.

Treat September 16–21 as equipment week. The Equipment Boost sets every Hero Equipment to its maximum level for 5 days at TH8+. That is the single best test window of the year for equipment you have not invested Ore in — run your candidate loadouts at max level, decide what deserves your Starry Ore, then upgrade with evidence. The Hero Equipment guide has the framework for those decisions.

Fill storages before September 12 and 26. The two Collector Boosts (September 12–14 and 26–28) run production at 4× for 48 hours at TH8+; storage capacity, not production, is the binding constraint, so spend down before each window opens.

Do not learn attacking from WWE troops. All four are temporary and rotating. An army plan built on a thrice-killed Yeti Undertaker stops existing on October 1.

What Changed in the August 30, 2026 Update?

The August 30, 2026 update shipped two days before the WWE event and is a separate release — progression changes, a rebuilt battle screen, and the first unit stat changes since the July 2026 balance patch.

Progression and levels:

  • Diggy levels 11–15 at Town Hall 18, plus Supercharge levels for the Builder's Hut and Monolith (also TH18).
  • A progression test rolls out starting in September: the Starter Pass is retired, Season Challenges begin at Town Hall 3, the Gold Pass becomes purchasable from TH3, and Season Pass and Gold Pass rewards scale to your Town Hall level. For low-TH players this is the bigger story than the WWE event — the monthly pass economy now starts at TH3 instead of gating them out.

Unit adjustments:

  • Ruin Knights no longer lose health over time.
  • Ruin Witch now summons up to 10 Ruin Knights, up from 8 — a straight +25% to her summon cap, compounded by those Knights no longer decaying.

Clan War League modifiers: Titan I now uses Legend II modifiers (previously Legend I), and Titan II and Titan III now use Legend III (previously Legend II). Legend League itself is unchanged. If your clan wars in Titan, the September 1–11 CWL season is the first one played under the harsher modifier mapping.

Quality of life: the end-of-battle screen was rebuilt with a new victory banner and a clearer loot/bonus breakdown; Wall Rings no longer require a free Builder; the Revive Spell can be cast directly onto a fallen Hero's icon; Hero Journey now offers fallback quests for players lacking a specific Epic Equipment; the Fast Forward button can be fully disabled; and Capital Treasury contributions no longer close the window and now show a live total.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the WWE: Search for Cena event end?

WWE: Search for Cena runs September 1–30, 2026. Every WWE Hero Skin window also closes September 30, while the Mash-A-Rama scenery set returning on September 15 is permanent — the one addition that outlives the event.

How do you get Challenger Contracts for the John Cena Challenge?

Challenger Contracts drop from WWE Chests, which are distributed through Money in the Bank Rush (September 1–5) and WWE Equipment Blast (September 9–22). Each Contract grants 24 hours of access to attempt Cena's base.

What do you get for beating John Cena's base?

The John Cena Challenge pays out the Cody's Callout decoration for any attempt scoring at least 2 stars. A global leaderboard separately tracks the fastest completion times, so full clears remain worth speedrunning after the decoration is banked.

What are the four WWE temporary troops?

The four rotating WWE troops are the Yeti Undertaker (80 housing, 5× wall damage, revives twice with Skeletons), K.A.N.E (75 housing, P.E.K.K.A-class), Giant Giant (50 housing, roughly 10× standard Giant stats, ignores Spring Traps), and Yeeter (45 housing, spawns 4 Tribal Tag Team members).

Which heroes get WWE skins in September 2026?

Five heroes: Cody Rhodes on the Barbarian King (September 3), Alexa Bliss on the Archer Queen (September 5), Iyo Sky on the Royal Champion (September 7), Kane on the Dragon Duke (September 8), and American Badass Undertaker on the Grand Warden (September 10) — all available until September 30. The Jey Uso Minion Prince skin is separate, as the September Gold Pass exclusive.

When is the Equipment Boost in September 2026?

The Equipment Boost runs September 16–21, 2026 — 5 days with all Hero Equipment set to maximum level for every player at Town Hall 8 and above. It is the month's best window for testing equipment before committing Ore.

What changed for Ruin Witch in the August 30 update?

Ruin Witch now summons up to 10 Ruin Knights, up from 8, and Ruin Knights no longer lose health over time. Both changes shipped in the August 30, 2026 update, the first unit adjustments since the July 2026 balance patch.

Can you buy the Gold Pass at Town Hall 3 now?

Yes — as part of a progression test rolling out starting in September 2026, the Gold Pass becomes purchasable from Town Hall 3, Season Challenges begin at TH3, the Starter Pass is retired, and pass rewards scale to your Town Hall level.
