Clash of Clans New UI (October 2026): Where Did My Buttons Go? Every Moved Button, the 4-Tab Build Menu and Known Issues

Updated 2026-10-1312 min read

Quick answer: The new Clash of Clans UI, announced by Supercell on October 8, 2026, moves Battle Log and Edit Army inside the bottom-left Battle button, puts every upgrade (buildings, Heroes, Laboratory, Blacksmith and Pet House) into a 4-tab Build button at bottom right, moves Settings into the Profile button and makes Clan Wars a card in Clan chat, with a dedicated main-screen button only while a war is on.

Clash of Clans New UI (October 2026): Where Did My Buttons Go? Every Moved Button, the 4-Tab Build Menu and Known Issues

Supercell's interface rework, announced October 8, 2026, maps 28 buttons and features in its own "Where Did My Buttons Go?" table, mirrors Battle (bottom-left) and Build (bottom-right), and splits every upgrade into 4 Build tabs: Building and Heroes, Army Upgrades, Hero Equipment and Hero Pets. The Builder Base gets the same treatment with 2 tabs, the Clan Capital gets only a visual pass, and Supercell lists 8 known issues up front. Every location below comes from Supercell's post, We've revamped the Clash of Clans User Interface.

What Changed in the Clash of Clans UI Rework?

The Clash of Clans UI rework rebuilds every button, bar and icon around the edge of the village: in Supercell's words, everything on screen that isn't the village itself. Supercell says the old layout was built for a smaller game, and Hero Equipment, Pets, Magic Items, events and the Clan Capital were bolted on until everyday functions were buried inside buildings. Its 4 stated goals: the right buttons in the right place (not fewer buttons, since "almost nothing was actually removed"), equal weight for Build and Battle, easier navigation for new and returning players, and a foundation for future features.

Where Did My Buttons Go? (The Full Map)

Every moved button is in Supercell's 28-item map below; 11 of those items now sit inside the Battle button or a Build tab.

One inconsistency in the source: Supercell's Profile section says "Settings and Inbox have moved inside the Profile button", while the map and the Events section put Inbox in the event tray, always pinned. The table follows the map.

What Changed on the Battle Button?

Impact: significant. The Battle button now holds everything you do before an attack: Battle Log, Edit Army and the battle menu. Supercell calls the Battle Log move "the change most likely to trip you up".

Where Is the Battle Log Now?

The Battle Log is inside the Battle button, which flags 2 waiting alerts:

  • Flaming sword icon: Revenge is available.
  • Eye icon: a Live Replay is in progress.

Both alerts also appear on the Battle Log button inside the Battle menu. Supercell's FAQ adds that Battle Boost and Magic Potion states also show on the Battle button, without describing their icons.

How Do I Edit My Army Now?

Edit Army is inside the Battle button. Supercell's reasoning: with training times gone and the army review screen appearing before every battle, the daily trip to the Army Training menu "is a relic of the past".

How Does the New Build Button Work?

Impact: massive. The Build button is now the single home for everything you upgrade and edit on your base. Upgrades that were "scattered across four buildings and a Shop tab" now sit in one sorted, filterable list, one tap from the village.

What Are the 4 Build Tabs?

The Build button holds 4 tabs:

Build tabWhat it replaces
Building and HeroesEvery building and Hero upgrade, plus new buildings (formerly in the Shop)
Army UpgradesEverything that used to mean tapping the Laboratory
Hero EquipmentEverything that used to mean tapping the Blacksmith
Hero PetsEverything that used to mean tapping the Pet House

Five behaviours to know:

  • Tapping an upgrade card pans the camera to that building and opens the upgrade confirmation directly.
  • Tapping a locked item pans to the building that gates it and tells you what you need to unlock it.
  • Upgrades in progress sort to the top by default, shortest timer first.
  • The village stays live behind the menu: tap a building, tap anywhere or hit close.
  • Edit Layout is conditional: it appears at the bottom right of the screen whenever the Build menu is open.

The old upgrade recommendations remain as a "Recommended" section inside the Build button, "sorted by the same logic as the old Menu".

Where Are the Builder Apprentice and Lab Assistant?

The Builder Apprentice is in Building and Heroes and the Lab Assistant is in Army Upgrades. Each button shows a timer while that helper is working.

How Do Build Filters and Sorting Work?

Build filters change per tab: Hero Equipment filters by Hero, and buildings filter by type. You can sort by cost, ascending or descending. Filters persist while you play, reset on a fresh session, and clear themselves once everything you filtered for is done, so you never stare at an empty list.

What Changed for the Shield, Currencies and Profile?

Impact: small. The Shield moves next to your resources, each Build tab shows only the currencies it can spend, and Profile absorbs Settings and Supercell ID.

Where Is the Shield Now?

The Shield sits next to your resources, because it protects them. Currencies are now shown per tab: each Build tab shows only the currencies that tab can spend, so the Hero Equipment tab shows Ore and Gems instead of the full wallet.

What Moved Into the Profile Button?

The Profile button in the top left now holds Settings, your Town Hall level and My Clan / Clan info. Supercell ID and account switching sit under Profile → Settings, which Supercell admits is one tap deeper than before: "If you switch accounts regularly, you'll feel that." Supercell says easier profile switching is being worked on.

What Changed for Chat and Clan Wars?

Impact: significant. The Chat button is unchanged, with Global Chat and Clan Chat inside. The Clan War button is now conditional:

  • No war sign-up: no Clan Wars icon on the main screen. A Clan Wars card in Clan chat is the entry point, and it stays available while the game searches for opponents.
  • War started: every player in the clan gets a dedicated button on the main screen, including players who aren't in the war. The war map stays reachable from Clan chat.
  • Clan War League: a card in Clan chat, a Chat button state during sign-ups, and a dedicated button during war.

For CWL rules and roster strategy, see the Clan War Leagues guide.

What Is the New Event Tray?

Impact: small. The event tray is a dedicated home for temporary content. The Event Hub and Inbox are always pinned and always visible. The Gold Pass has its own button and never collapses into the tray. The tray opens automatically when your village loads; tap the arrow beside it to collapse or expand it, and the Event Hub stays directly accessible while it is collapsed.

What Changed in the Shop and Magic Items?

Impact: small. The Shop stays in the same place but now focuses on offers, gifts and special items, since new buildings moved to the Build menu. A red pip appears only when there is "a genuine reason to visit" and clears once you've been. Magic Items get a dedicated button shared with Magic Snacks: Books, Hammers, Runes and Potions are one tap from the village instead of "buried inside the Town Hall", and you can also reach them through the Battle button.

What Changed in the Builder Base and Clan Capital?

Impact: small. The Builder Base gets the same UI improvements, but its Build menu has 2 tabs instead of 4; Supercell doesn't name them. The Clan Capital changes only visually, to match the new button styles. Supercell plans a proper Clan Capital rework later. See the Builder Base guide and the Clan Capital guide.

What Happens on Your First Login After the Update?

Impact: small. Your first login after the update opens a short walkthrough covering the most important change: finding the new Build menu. After that, notifications in your village point to 3 optional mini-tutorials: Battle UI, Profile and Social. Supercell asks players to "give it a week", roughly how long muscle memory takes to catch up.

What Should You Check First After the Update?

The first 10 minutes after the update are best spent on these 10 checks, each based on what Supercell's post describes:

  1. Finish the walkthrough on the Build menu.
  2. Open Build → Building and Heroes and confirm your running upgrades sit at the top, shortest timer first.
  3. Sort by cost, then scan the whole list: a known issue can put affordable upgrades below ones you can't afford.
  4. Check the Recommended section, which uses the old suggestion logic. To plan your own order, use the upgrade priority tool and the upgrade priority guide.
  5. Find your helpers: Lab Assistant in Army Upgrades, Builder Apprentice in Building and Heroes. A timer means it's working.
  6. Open Hero Equipment and filter by Hero; it shows Ore and Gems. Pair it with the Hero Equipment guide or the equipment planner.
  7. Check the Battle button before attacking: flaming sword means Revenge, eye means Live Replay.
  8. Edit your army inside the Battle button, not the Army Training menu.
  9. Account switchers: visit Profile → Settings to learn the new Supercell ID path.
  10. Open Clan chat to find the Clan Wars card, then try the 3 mini-tutorials.

That checklist works because Builder, Laboratory, Blacksmith and Pet House upgrades now all live in one Build menu. Back after a break? The returning player guide and beginner guide cover what changed beyond the UI.

What Isn't Final Yet?

The new Clash of Clans UI is "a foundation", and Supercell names 3 unfinished areas:

  • UI customization: scaling, quick actions and more control over your layout.
  • Easier profile switching for multi-account players.
  • Better ways to organize your own upgrades, rather than only Supercell's suggested order.

You can't switch back to the old interface, and Supercell gives no date for customization. Supercell has not given a release date either: its October 8, 2026 post says only that the new interface "will be live in the game soon".

What Are the Known Issues in the New UI?

The known issues in the new UI are 8 bugs Supercell listed before release:

AreaKnown issue
Builder Menu (the Build menu)Affordable upgrades can sometimes appear below upgrades you can't afford
War MapThe Edit Army button can take a moment to appear
Battle LogScrolling can occasionally become unresponsive for a moment
Events trayEvents can spread across 2 rows despite free space, or briefly expand when opening Clan Chat
Gem counterCan animate from 0 when switching tabs
Builder BaseOngoing attack indicators can stop displaying after exiting a Live Replay or opening and closing the Battle Log
Clan CapitalActive and disabled Attack button colors can be hard to tell apart
Text and layoutOverlapping text, small labels or other visual issues depending on device and language

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Battle Log in the new Clash of Clans UI?

The Battle Log is inside the bottom-left Battle button. The Battle button shows a flaming sword when a Revenge is available and an eye when a Live Replay is in progress, and both alerts also appear on the Battle Log button inside the menu.

How do I edit my army now?

Edit Army is inside the Battle button, alongside the Battle Log and the battle menu. On the War Map the Edit Army button can take a moment to appear, 1 of Supercell's 8 known issues.

Where did the Laboratory upgrades go?

Laboratory upgrades are in Build → Army Upgrades, 1 of the 4 Build tabs, along with the Lab Assistant. Hero Equipment (formerly the Blacksmith) and Hero Pets (formerly the Pet House) have their own tabs.

Can I switch back to the old Clash of Clans UI?

The old Clash of Clans UI can't be restored. Supercell's October 8, 2026 post says customization (scaling, quick actions, layout control) is planned, but gives no date.

Where is the Clan War button?

The Clan War button now appears only while a war is on. Before that, a Clan Wars card in Clan chat is the entry point, and it stays available while the game searches for opponents; once war starts, all clan members get 1 dedicated button, including the ones not in the war.

How do I switch accounts now?

Supercell ID and account switching are in Profile → Settings, 1 tap deeper than before. Supercell says easier profile switching is in the works.

When does the new Clash of Clans UI come out?

The new Clash of Clans UI has no confirmed release date: Supercell's October 8, 2026 post says only that it "will be live in the game soon".
