Is the Portal Pendant Worth It? Minion Prince Equipment Verdict (Clash of Clans, October 2026)

Updated 2026-10-0614 min readportal pendantportal pendant worth itminion prince equipmentbest minion prince equipmentportal panic medal eventclash of clans epic equipmentportal pendant vs dark orb

Quick answer: The Portal Pendant is worth claiming with Rift Medals for hybrid and Hero-led attacks but not worth Starry Ore yet: it recalls the Minion Prince and nearby units for a hasted, healed redeploy, so it should replace the Dark Orb only in armies that need a second entry point, which you can test at maximum level during the October 20–25, 2026 Equipment Boost.

The Portal Pendant is the Minion Prince's 7th piece of Hero Equipment and his 3rd Epic, after the Dark Crown (June 2025) and the Meteor Staff (October 2025), and it goes live on October 8, 2026 in the Portal Panic Medal Event (October 8–25, Town Hall 6+), where Rift Medals claim it in the Trader Shop until October 27. It is the only Minion Prince piece that moves your army instead of hitting the enemy: Supercell describes it as teleporting "Minion Prince and surrounding allies back to the deployment bar for a follow-up barrage." Players can already use a level-27 copy in the Portal Challenge (October 6–13), paired with the Meteor Staff.

What Does the Portal Pendant Do?

The Portal Pendant is an active ability: when you press the Minion Prince's ability, it pulls the Minion Prince and nearby allied Troops, Heroes and Pets back onto his deployment-bar slot, and you then redeploy them anywhere your deployment zone allows. Redeployed units come back with extra health and a Haste effect, and the ability also gives the Minion Prince his usual health recovery. Siege Machines cannot be recalled.

That makes it the Minion Prince's first non-combat equipment: every other piece adds damage, slows, health or summons, while the Pendant adds a second deployment for a group that has finished its job or is about to die.

The in-game description is one line; the Clash of Clans Wiki's pre-release documentation, taken from game files, supplies the rules that decide whether a recall goes well, covered next — confirm them after the October 8 release.

How Does the Portal Pendant Decide What to Recall?

The Portal Pendant has a recall capacity, and when more units stand in its area than it can carry, it picks by a fixed priority. Per the Clash of Clans Wiki's pre-release documentation (from game files; confirm after October 8):

RuleWhat happensWhat it means for your attack
Heroes firstHeroes are recalled before any troopA Queen or King next to the Prince is always taken, even if you only wanted troops
Then highest housing spaceLarger troops are taken before smaller onesGolems, Yetis and Dragons go before Archers or Minions
Ties go to deployment orderAmong equal-housing units, the earliest-deployed are taken firstYour first wave is recalled before your reinforcements
Heroes and Pets use capacityEach recalled Hero and Pet takes up part of the recall capacity, like a large troopRecalling 2 Heroes leaves less room for troops
The Prince is freeThe Minion Prince takes no capacity himselfHis own Pet still counts toward capacity
Pets are not prioritisedThe Hero rule does not extend to PetsA Pet can be left behind while its Hero is recalled
Phoenix and Angry Jelly exceptionsAn egg-form Phoenix or a Jelly brainwashing its Hero travels with that Hero at no extra costHero-plus-Pet combos survive a recall together in these 2 states
Siege MachinesNever recalledPlan the Pendant away from your Log Launcher or Wall Wrecker

Redeployment follows a matching order: the largest units drop first, then by original deployment time, in the same sequence you placed them by hand. Holding the Minion Prince's slot does not show what is stored inside, unlike the Recall Spell, so count what you are pulling before you press.

Effects carry over unevenly, according to the same pre-release documentation. Units keep the status effects they had when recalled, but spell effects generally wear off because the units reappear outside the spell's radius, and most timers keep running while the units wait on the bar. A short list is paused instead: Clone Spell lifetimes, the Angry effect from the Angry Jelly and the Angry Spell, active equipment timers such as the Rage Vial and the Eternal Tome, and the Phoenix's revival timer. A cloned army or a Raged King therefore keeps its buff while it sits on the bar, though the battle clock keeps running; a Healing Spell or Rage Spell you cast on the old spot is simply left behind.

How Does the Portal Pendant Compare With the Other Minion Prince Equipment?

The Portal Pendant is the only one of the Minion Prince's 7 pieces with no direct damage, slow or self-sustain beyond his base ability, so it competes for a slot on utility, not output. The maximum-level figures below are the wiki's published stat tables for the 6 live pieces (Common pieces cap at level 18, Epics at 27); the Pendant's are left blank because Supercell has not published them before its October 8 release.

EquipmentRarity / typeWhat it doesKey numbers at max levelVerdict for most attacks
Dark OrbCommon, activeCrystal that travels forward, damaging and slowing defenses and defenders200 damage, 50% slow for 18 s; +73 DPS, +1,140 HPDefault first piece — the slow helps every army

Noble IronCommon, passiveFirst shots gain damage and range10 shots at +770 damage, 12-tile range; +18% attack speedStrong for sniping an edge or a single key defense
Dark CrownEpic, passiveGrows stronger as allies die (every 60 housing, up to 180)+30% health and +30% damage at full; +1,200 HP, +11% attack speedStrong in armies that trade troops for progress
Meteor StaffEpic, passivePeriodic meteors on the nearest defense850 damage every 5 s; +125 DPS, +1,381 HPStrong when the Prince survives a long time
Portal PendantEpic, activeRecalls the Prince and nearby units for a hasted, healed redeployNot published before releaseFavorable only in hybrid or Hero-led attacks — see below

The Pendant is also the only piece that can pull a failing push out and restart it elsewhere (the Dark Crown instead turns losses into Prince stats), and it competes for the ability press with the 3 other active pieces — which is why Supercell's own challenge loadout pairs it with the passive Meteor Staff.

When Is the Portal Pendant Better Than a Damage Piece?

The Portal Pendant is better than a damage piece when your attack has 2 distinct jobs on 2 sides of the base and a group that can do both. The kit points to 3 situations:

  1. Hero charges that finish early. A Queen walk or King dive that has cleared its side stands idle while the rest of the base fights on. Fly the Minion Prince to the group, press the Pendant, and redeploy the Heroes (recalled first) on the opposite side with Haste and extra health — a second charge without a second Hero.
  2. Rescuing a stalled push. A Golem or Yeti pack stuck on a wall segment, or troops pathing into a corner, can be pulled out and dropped where they reach the core. The highest-housing-first rule means the tanks are the units it saves first.
  3. Pairing with Clone and Angry effects. Clone lifetimes and Angry timers pause on the bar, so a cloned or angered group redeploys with the buff intact. Combined with the redeploy Haste, that is the Pendant's highest-ceiling use.

Where it is worse: pure air spam (Dragons, Electro Dragons, Lavaloon) that funnels through one side and never needs a second entry, and any attack where the Prince flies alone and his damage passive is the point. In those armies, the Dark Orb's 50% slow and the Meteor Staff's 850-damage meteors contribute every second; the Pendant contributes once.

Should You Swap Your Current Minion Prince Equipment for the Portal Pendant?

Swap the Portal Pendant in only if your army needs a second entry point, and when you do, pair it with a passive piece rather than the Dark Orb. The reason is the shared button: an active partner fires on the same press as the recall, and the Dark Orb's crystal launches from the position you are abandoning. Metal Pants is the one active piece worth testing as a partner: its shield sits on the Prince himself, and the wiki's pre-release documentation says active equipment timers pause while units wait on the bar, so the shield may carry through the redeploy — check it in the October 20–25 boost before relying on it. A passive partner — Meteor Staff, Dark Crown or Noble Iron — keeps working on its own while the press is spent only on the recall, which is exactly how Supercell set up the Portal Challenge loadout (Pendant plus Meteor Staff).

Your armyTypical pair todaySwap the Pendant in?Pendant loadout if yes
Pure air spam (Dragons, Electro Dragons)Dark Orb + Dark Crown or Meteor StaffNo— keep the Dark Orb's slow; one funnel rarely needs a recall
Lavaloon / hound-led airDark Orb + Meteor StaffNo— the Prince trails a slow push; meteors add more every 5 s
Queen Charge or King dive hybridsDark Orb + Henchmen Puppet or Metal PantsYesPendant + Meteor Staff or Dark Crown; test Pendant + Metal Pants
Ground smash (Yetis, Golems, Root Riders)Dark Orb + Dark CrownTest itPendant + Dark Crown, so troop losses still power the Prince
Solo Prince snipesNoble Iron + Metal PantsNo— the Prince works alone; there is nothing nearby to recall

So the verdict splits cleanly. If you never need to move a group, the Dark Orb stays in your first slot and the Pendant stays on the shelf. If you do, the Pendant takes the Dark Orb's slot, not the passive's, and you accept losing the 50% slow in exchange for a second hasted, healed deployment. Players without an Epic passive can use Noble Iron as the partner: its first 10 shots still fire at full value before you ever press the ability.

Is the Portal Pendant Worth Starry Ore?

The Portal Pendant is not worth Starry Ore until you have tested it, because as an Epic it consumes Starry Ore at higher levels and its level-by-level numbers are unpublished before release. Two free tests come first:

Test windowDates (2026)What you learn
Portal ChallengeOctober 6–13, every Town HallThe Pendant at level 27 with Meteor Staff on a preset army
Portal Pendant Equipment BoostOctober 20–25, Town Hall 9+The Pendant at maximum level in your own army, at no ore cost

Whether to claim it depends on your armies. Supercell has not published the Pendant's Rift Medal price; the Minion Prince's first Epic sold through a medal event, the Dark Crown in Dark Deal, cost 3,100 event medals. If you play Queen Charge, King dive or ground-smash hybrids, claim it before the Trader Shop closes on October 27 — equipment is permanent and the claim costs medals, not ore. If you only play pure air, spend the medals on the shop's other rewards. Either way, use the October 20–25 boost to run it in the 2-3 armies you actually use: if it changes how your hybrid attacks finish, give it the Starry Ore you would have spent on your weakest Epic; if it only replaces damage you miss, park it at level 1. The October season guide covers the full Medal Event calendar.

What Are the Most Common Portal Pendant Mistakes?

Mistake 1 — Recalling a Hero you meant to leave behind: Heroes are recalled first, so pressing the Pendant next to a Barbarian King mid-dive pulls him out too. In the Portal Challenge walkthrough Judo Sloth Gaming published on October 6, he keeps the King on the deployment bar until the Prince's ability has fired, for exactly this reason.

Mistake 2 — Leaving auto-activation on: The Minion Prince's ability fires automatically when he is about to be knocked out, unless you turn off "Automatically use Hero Abilities on KO" in Settings. With the Pendant equipped, that last-second save becomes a full recall of whatever stands near him. Decide whether that is a rescue you want, or switch it off.

Mistake 3 — Recalling inside your own spells: Spell effects generally do not travel with recalled units, so a Healing or Rage Spell cast on the old spot is wasted the moment you press. Use the Pendant before you commit spells to that group, or after they expire.

Mistake 4 — Pairing the Pendant with the Dark Orb: Both fire on one button, so the Orb's crystal launches from the position you are leaving and slows defenses your army is about to abandon. Pair the Pendant with a passive piece instead.

How Do You Test the Portal Pendant in the Portal Challenge?

The Portal Challenge (October 6–13, every Town Hall) hands you a level-95 Minion Prince with a level-27 Portal Pendant and level-27 Meteor Staff, beside a level-110 King and Queen, a level-85 Warden, 10 Totem Throwers and 8 Totem Spells, with unlimited attempts. Run it twice — once ignoring the Pendant, once recalling the Queen's group after her side is clear — and compare where the second drop lands. Our Portal Challenge 3-star walkthrough covers the full attack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Portal Pendant worth it in Clash of Clans?

The Portal Pendant is worth claiming with Rift Medals (October 8–27, 2026) if you play hybrid or Hero-led attacks, but not worth Starry Ore until you test it at maximum level in the October 20–25 Equipment Boost. Pure-air players can skip it.

What does the Portal Pendant do?

The Portal Pendant recalls the Minion Prince plus nearby Troops, Heroes and Pets to his deployment-bar slot, then lets you redeploy them elsewhere with extra health and Haste; Siege Machines cannot be recalled. You can try a level-27 copy for free in the Portal Challenge, October 6–13, 2026.

How do you get the Portal Pendant?

The Portal Pendant is claimed with Rift Medals in the Trader Shop during the Portal Panic Medal Event, October 8–25, 2026 (Town Hall 6+), with the shop open until October 27. You can try it for free in the Portal Challenge from October 6 to 13.

Is the Portal Pendant better than the Dark Orb?

The Dark Orb remains the better default: its 50% slow for 18 seconds at level 18 helps every army, while the Portal Pendant only pays off when you need to move a group to a second side of the base. When you do run the Pendant, it should replace the Dark Orb and sit next to a passive piece such as the Meteor Staff.

Which equipment should I pair with the Portal Pendant?

The Portal Pendant pairs best with a passive piece — the Meteor Staff or the Dark Crown — so the ability press is spent only on the recall. Supercell's own Portal Challenge loadout pairs a level-27 Pendant with a level-27 Meteor Staff.

Does the Portal Pendant recall Heroes?

The Portal Pendant recalls Heroes before any troop, according to the Clash of Clans Wiki's pre-release documentation (from game files; confirm after the October 8, 2026 release); Judo Sloth Gaming's October 6 Portal Challenge walkthrough shows the practical effect, warning that a nearby King comes back to the bar with the Prince. The same documentation says an egg-form Phoenix or an Angry Jelly brainwashing its Hero travels with that Hero at no extra cost; confirm after the October 8 release.

**Methodology:** Event dates and the Pendant's description come from Supercell's October 1, 2026 season post ("Cosmic Curse: Portal Panic Teleports In!" on supercell.com), the official @ClashofClans post of October 6, 2026 on X, and the in-game description. The Judo Sloth Gaming example is from his YouTube walkthrough "Easily 3 Star Portal Challenge in Clash of Clans" (October 6, 2026). Recall rules come from the Clash of Clans Wiki's Portal Pendant page, which documents them from game files before the October 8 release; maximum-level figures for the other 6 Minion Prince pieces come from the wiki's published stat tables; the Portal Challenge loadout comes from the wiki's Attack Challenges page. All read October 6, 2026. Pre-release level numbers for the Pendant that circulate from game files were deliberately not used. Supercell has not published the Pendant's level stats, so this page quotes none; verdicts are reasoned from each piece's kit, not from usage or win-rate data.
