Clash of Clans August 2026 Season Guide: Clash-A-Rama — The Awesome Quest

Quick answer: Clash of Clans' August 2026 season is Clash-A-Rama: The Awesome Quest, running August 1–31 with 20 dated event windows, headlined by the Clash of Cards collecting event, three new Crafted Defenses available from Town Hall 11, and the Awesome Medal Event from August 12. No balance changes shipped in August 2026 — the July 9, 2026 update is still the current balance state.

Clash of Clans' August 2026 season, Clash-A-Rama: The Awesome Quest, packs 20 dated windows into 31 days — the busiest calendar of the year, because it doubles as the game's 14th Clashiversary. The headline additions are the month-long Clash of Cards collecting event (TH3+, trading closes September 2), three new Crafted Defenses unlocked from Town Hall 11 this season instead of the usual higher gate, six Hero Skins staggered across the month, and the Awesome Medal Event from August 12, which debuts the Elephant Rider temporary troop. One mass-troop window (August 9–10) and two mass-spell windows (August 3–5 and 17–18) hand out armies far larger than a camp can hold.

One thing this season does not contain, and it is worth stating plainly because it is a common August search: no balance changes shipped.

Did Clash of Clans Get a Balance Update in August 2026?

No. Neither the season announcement nor the Clash of Cards post contains a single troop, spell, or hero stat change — no nerfs, no buffs, no numbers at all. Supercell's official blog index confirms the newest balance post is dated July 9, 2026.

That means the July 2026 balance changes are not a stale historical page — they are the current balance state of the game. If you are planning armies for August, the July patch is the document to read.

What Are the New Crafted Defenses?

Three new Crafted Defenses opened with the Crafting Station on August 1, and this season they are available from Town Hall 11 — a Clashiversary concession, since the gate is normally higher.

Each defense starts at Level 3 with exactly three upgrade modules — Hitpoints, Damage and a distinctive third. Each module upgrades independently from level 1 to level 10, taking the defense from Level 3 to Level 30, and is paid in Gold, Elixir or Dark Elixir depending on the module. Build times run from 4 hours at the first level to 10 days at the top (Hot Candle's Damage level 10 is 10 days), and maxing one Season 4 defense totals 67 days 13 hours of build time:

DefenseHitpointsDamageThird moduleFlavor text
Hot Candle1,600DPS 80 per flameSeconds Active: 95 (melt threshold)"Goes blow for blow with any troop!"
Hero Hunter1,600DPS 145 (290 vs heroes)Poison spell level: 3"Heroes are dealt a bad hand."
Cake-A-Pult1,600Damage per hit: 195 (2.5-tile splash)Explosion Damage: 400 (delayed bomb)"Face-seeking Frosting!"

The Hot Candle's "Seconds Active: 95" is the most misread number here. It is not a shut-off timer — the Hot Candle keeps firing for the whole attack. The Seconds Active module sets the candle's melt thresholds: at level 1 it hits 6 targets for the first 59 seconds, 4 targets from 60 to 94 seconds, and 3 targets from 95 seconds onward, at 80 DPS per flame throughout. So a Hot Candle is strongest in the opening minute of a raid and settles to half its target count once the clock passes 95 seconds — a defense that rewards early contact rather than one that switches off.

The Hero Hunter is the one that changes attack planning. It poisons every ground and air unit it hits from 9.5 tiles at a 0.6-second attack speed, but heroes are its favourite target and take 2× damage — 290 DPS on a hero at level 1 against 145 base — so it affects Queen Charge and hero-dive strategies far more than the headline DPS suggests.

Supercell's system rules, verbatim:

  • "You can switch between them anytime"
  • "Strategize by choosing which stats to upgrade! Crafted Defenses will defend even while upgrading"
  • "Defenses last until a Crafting Phase ends. A new set is released with the next phase"

This is Crafted Defenses Season 4, and the in-game Crafting Phase timer runs roughly 149 days from the start of August — placing the phase end around the end of December 2026. So these three are not a one-month novelty; they are your defensive furniture for the rest of the year.

What Is the Awesome Medal Event?

The Awesome Medal Event runs August 12–31 and is the season's main grind track. You collect Card Tokens in Home Village battles, convert them into Quest Medals, and spend those in the Trader Shop. The free track also drops bonus card packs — no pass required.

It is also when the Elephant Rider temporary troop arrives. Two things worth being accurate about:

  • The Elephant Rider is making its debut. It won a Supercell Make community design campaign around March 2025, and Supercell's medal-event post bills its "grand arrival" — this is its first playable appearance, not a return.
  • It is temporary. Anything you learn about attacking with it stops applying when the event ends on August 31.

Because the Medal Event explicitly runs in Home Village battles, and because the mass-troop windows add units to "your regular army," army compositions during this period do not reflect what a normal month looks like. Our Army Meta tier list annotates snapshots that overlap these windows for exactly that reason.

What Should You Prioritise This Month?

Do the Clash of Cards check-ins on August 4, 11, and 18. Three free card packs for visiting the Trader is the cheapest guaranteed supply in the event, and missing a date cannot be made up. Full detail in the Clash of Cards event guide.

Start a Crafted Defense on August 1, not late in the month. Module upgrades start at 4 hours but stretch to 10 days at the top levels — 67 days 13 hours to max one defense — so the calendar is the binding constraint. Defenses keep defending while upgrading, and the set persists until the Crafting Phase ends on December 31. Early starts compound; late starts do not.

Bank builder time for the two Resource Fests. August 15–17 and August 29–31 both give 4× collector production and capacity plus a Goblin Builder. Storage capacity is the binding constraint on a 4× boost, so plan collections around it.

Treat August 9–10 as a farming window, not a learning window. 50 Elephant Riders and 20 Super Valkyries is more housing than any Town Hall can field — 20 Super Valkyries alone is 400 housing, against a camp capacity of 340 at Town Hall 17 (four level-13 Army Camps) and 352 at Town Hall 18 (level 14). Attacks you win with a granted army teach you nothing about whether the composition works.

Save a Clashiversary Cake obstacle. Supercell's own instruction, and it is the only one in the post phrased as a warning.

What Is Chief's Chronicles?

Chief's Chronicles (August 8–31, from 08:00 UTC) is Clash of Clans' first-ever year-in-review feature. The season post originally listed August 6; Supercell's dedicated August 5 post moved the start to August 8 and documented the feature: it sorts you into one of 6 Chief archetypes based on your year of play and walks you through your history in three interaction stages — Guess, Smash and Reveal — before you claim a statue reflecting your Chief history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Clash of Clans get a balance update in August 2026?

No. Neither August post contains any troop, spell, or hero stat change, and Supercell's official blog index confirms the most recent balance post is dated July 9, 2026. The July 2026 patch is the current balance state of the game.

When does the August 2026 Clash of Clans season end?

The Clash-A-Rama: The Awesome Quest season runs August 1–31, 2026. One deadline extends past it: Clash of Cards trading stays open until September 2 at 08:00 UTC.

What Town Hall do you need for the new Crafted Defenses?

Town Hall 11 this season. Supercell describes it as available "starting from TH11," which is a Clashiversary concession — the Crafted Defenses gate is normally higher.

What are the three new Crafted Defenses in August 2026?

Cake-A-Pult, Hero Hunter, and Hot Candle. Each starts at Level 3 with three independently upgradeable modules (each module levels 1–10, so a defense can reach Level 30). Hot Candle deals 80 DPS per flame, hitting 6 targets for the first 59 seconds, 4 from 60 seconds and 3 from 95 seconds on; Hero Hunter has DPS 145 (290 against heroes) plus a level-3 Poison module; Cake-A-Pult deals 195 splash damage per hit and leaves a 400-damage bomb that detonates 3 seconds later.

When does the Elephant Rider arrive in August 2026?

Two windows. August 9–10 grants 50 Elephant Riders directly to your army for 24 hours, and the Awesome Medal Event from August 12–31 makes the Elephant Rider temporary troop available for the rest of the month. It is the troop's debut — a Supercell Make community-design winner from around March 2025 appearing in-game for the first time.

How long do Crafted Defenses last?

Until the current Crafting Phase ends — "a new set is released with the next phase." The in-game timer places this phase's end around the end of December 2026, so the August set is roughly a five-month asset rather than a monthly one.

What is the Awesome Medal Event?

The Awesome Medal Event runs August 12–31, 2026. You collect Card Tokens in Home Village battles, convert them to Quest Medals, and spend those in the Trader Shop. The free track drops bonus card packs with no pass required.

What Hero Skins are in the August 2026 season?

Six. Tempest Champion on the Gold Pass (August 1–31), then King Barbarian (Barbarian King, from August 5), Elven Archer (Archer Queen, from August 7), Drakan Duke (Dragon Duke, from August 9), Lich Prince (Minion Prince, from August 11), and Grand Mage (Grand Warden, from August 13). Note that Supercell names the hero for every skin except Tempest Champion.
