How to Counter Electro Giant in Clash Royale: Counters, Placements & Anti-E-Giant Decks (October 2026)

Updated 2026-10-1325 min read

Quick answer: The most reliable way to counter Electro Giant is a slow, heavy hitter (Mini P.E.K.K.A or P.E.K.K.A) backed by an Electro Wizard standing more than 3 tiles away from him, the only three cards ranked in the top 10 Electro Giant counters in all six trophy bands on TrophyCoach's counter table (October 6–12, 2026).

How to Counter Electro Giant in Clash Royale: Counters, Placements & Anti-E-Giant Decks (October 2026)

Electro Giant costs 7 elixir, carries 3,952 hitpoints at Tournament Standard (Level 11), hits buildings for 163 damage every 1.8 seconds, and his Zap Pack stuns any unit that damages him from within 3 tiles for 0.5 seconds per hit. He is one of Season 88's boosted cards, so he plays at Level 16 this season: 6,314 HP and 261 damage per hit. In the October 12, 2026 meta snapshot he peaks at 7.34% popularity at 7,000–8,000 trophies, and at 9,000+ the E-Giant Tornado build (6.12%) is more common than plain Electro Giant (2.00%). Season 88 (Shocktober, October 5 – November 2, 2026) added Evo Electro Giant, whose Level Damper pulse removes 1 level from every enemy troop in range every 6 seconds. His last change was the July 6, 2026 hitpoint buff (Level 11: 3,855 → 3,952). Both TrophyCoach labels that run him, Electro Giant and E-Giant Tornado, are covered below; Golem, Giant and Lava Hound live in the Beatdown counter guide.

Which cards counter Electro Giant?

Mini P.E.K.K.A, P.E.K.K.A and Electro Wizard are the cards that most consistently counter Electro Giant in TrophyCoach's ranked-battle data: all three sit in the top 10 of all six trophy bands. Mini P.E.K.K.A is top 5 in every band and ranks 1st at both 7,000–8,000 and 8,000–9,000. P.E.K.K.A rises from 7th under 5,000 to 2nd at 7,000–9,000 and 1st at 9,000+.

How to read the tables: each one ranks counter cards by how much worse Electro Giant decks did when the opponent's deck contained that card. "Battles with counter" is the number of battles in the October 6–12, 2026 window in which an Electro Giant deck faced an opponent running that card. The ranking measures what happened against the opponent's whole deck, not a one-on-one duel, so a card can rank partly because of the deck it usually sits in; the mechanics sections below explain which cards earn their place on their own. To check your own deck against these cards, use Counter Lookup.

What do the top Electro Giant counters have in common?

The top Electro Giant counters fall into two groups, both explained by the Zap Pack. Slow heavy hitters, Mini P.E.K.K.A (755 damage per hit) and P.E.K.K.A (842), take one 0.5-second stun per swing, so the stun costs them the least damage per second. Ranged units hit from outside the 3-tile radius: Firecracker (6-tile range), Dart Goblin (6.5), Electro Wizard (5), Archers (5), Zappies (4.5) and Princess (9) never trigger the reflection when they stand at full range. Inferno Tower is in no band's top 10; the Inferno Tower section below explains when it still works.

Where do you meet Electro Giant?

Electro Giant is a mid-to-high ladder deck. Its popularity climbs from 2.69% under 5,000 to a peak of 7.34% at 7,000–8,000, then the base build drops to 2.00% at 9,000+, where E-Giant Tornado takes over at 6.12%. E-Giant Tornado makes a band's top 30 only at 9,000+, so below that you mostly meet base builds: the all-electric Sparky, Electro Dragon and Zappies list, Sparky with Bowler and Executioner, or Witch, Night Witch and Wizard splash support.

What is Electro Giant and why does it win?

Electro Giant is a 7-elixir Epic tank that targets only buildings and wins by making your defenders hurt themselves. Every time an enemy unit damages him from within 3 tiles, the Zap Pack hits that unit back and stuns it for 0.5 seconds, and that includes a Crown Tower shooting him from close range.

At Level 11, Electro Giant's damage is modest (163 per hit), but his first hit lands 1 second after he reaches a building (1.5 seconds before May 4, 2026), and his 3,952 HP is about a Giant's 3,968; the Zap Pack makes each hitpoint cost the defender more.

Electro Giant decks win in one of three ways:

  • Tornado pull. E-Giant Tornado uses a 3-elixir Tornado (5.5-tile radius) to drag your ranged defenders inside the 3-tile Zap Pack, so they stun themselves on every shot.
  • Spell clear. All five E-Giant Tornado lists in TrophyCoach's 9,000+ tracked top 60 (October 12, 2026) also run Lightning, whose 1,057 damage (3.5-tile radius) deletes the Firecracker (304 HP), Princess or Dart Goblin (261 HP each) you were counting on, all at Level 11.
  • Overload. Base builds stack a second damage dealer behind him (Sparky, Electro Dragon, Executioner, Bowler) so one defender cannot handle both.

How do you place Mini P.E.K.K.A and P.E.K.K.A against Electro Giant?

Mini P.E.K.K.A and P.E.K.K.A are the two best melee answers to Electro Giant because both hit hard and slowly. At Level 11, Mini P.E.K.K.A needs six hits (755 × 6 = 4,530 against 3,952 HP) and P.E.K.K.A five (842 × 5 = 4,210). The counts hold at equal levels; a lower-level defender needs more hits against this season's Level 16 Electro Giant. Each hit costs one 0.5-second stun; a fast hitter like Golden Knight or Lumberjack takes many more zaps for the same damage.

Place your heavy hitter so it meets Electro Giant just after he crosses the bridge, before he reaches your Princess Tower. There your tower is more than 3 tiles away and keeps shooting unzapped, and his support has not caught up yet. Drop it only once he is committed to the lane: a defender placed early can be pulled by Tornado or pre-spelled with Lightning.

The melee answer rarely works alone. Six Mini P.E.K.K.A swings at 1.6 seconds each, plus a 0.5-second stun after every hit, take more than ten seconds, which is enough time for Archers, Bowler or Dark Prince to kill your 1,390 HP Mini P.E.K.K.A. Pair it with a card for the support; Valkyrie, Firecracker and Electro Wizard are the measured examples.

Where should ranged defenders stand against Electro Giant?

Ranged defenders against Electro Giant should stand at the edge of their range, away from his lane. At full range Electro Wizard (5 tiles), Firecracker (6), Dart Goblin (6.5) and Princess (9) sit outside the 3-tile Zap Pack and take no reflection or stun. Electro Wizard and Executioner hit him twice per attack and the reflection counts per hit, so inside 3 tiles they zap themselves twice; keep them as far back as their range allows.

Against E-Giant Tornado, spacing matters too: a 5.5-tile Tornado can pull two neighbouring defenders into the Zap Pack at once, so spread them.

Should you use Inferno Tower against Electro Giant?

Inferno Tower is a good Electro Giant answer only when it melts him before he reaches it; it is in no band's top 10 on TrophyCoach's counter table. Its 6-tile range keeps it outside the Zap Pack while the beam ramps up, but Electro Giant targets buildings and walks straight at it. Once he is within 3 tiles, every Inferno tick triggers the Zap Pack and every stun resets the beam to its weakest stage. E-Giant decks carry Lightning and Zap to reset the beam before that point, and Tornado to drag an Inferno Dragon into the Zap Pack.

Place Inferno Tower where the Clash Royale wiki places it against any building-targeting unit: 4 tiles from the river and 3 tiles from your Crown Tower, toward the centre. Then kill his support with a troop or spell so the beam stays on him. Inferno Dragon follows the same logic from the other side: the wiki advises placing it far to the side, never between him and a defensive building, so he never walks into it.

How do you pull Electro Giant off his lane?

A defensive building at the standard 4-3 spot (4 tiles from the river, 3 tiles from your Crown Tower, toward the centre) pulls Electro Giant off his lane before he reaches your Princess Tower. That keeps the tower firing from range instead of being stunned point-blank by the Zap Pack on every shot. Cannon (3 elixir), Tesla (4) and Goblin Cage (4) are the measured building counters, at 5,000–6,000, 7,000–8,000 and under 5,000 respectively.

How does each Electro Giant variant play, and how do you defend it?

Electro Giant shows up under two TrophyCoach labels: any Electro Giant deck that also runs Tornado is E-Giant Tornado, every other one is Electro Giant (lists that trip an earlier classifier rule, such as Golem, Miner or Log Bait, are filed under that label instead). The Evolution can appear in both.

How do you defend E-Giant Tornado?

E-Giant Tornado is the 9,000+ version of the deck. A tracked 9,000+ list from October 12, 2026 runs Electro Giant, Tornado, Lightning, Barbarian Barrel, Archers, Dark Prince, Cannon and Phoenix:

CardElixirRole in the deck
Electro Giant7Win condition and tank
Lightning6Removes ranged defenders and Inferno support
Tornado3Pulls defenders into the Zap Pack
Dark Prince4Splash support behind Electro Giant
Phoenix4Air defense that respawns
Archers3Ranged support
Cannon3Defensive building
Barbarian Barrel2Cheap ground clear
Average elixir4.0

E-Giant Tornado's four cheapest cards (Barbarian Barrel, Archers, Cannon, Tornado) total 11 elixir, so once the opening bank is spent, each Electro Giant-to-Electro Giant loop costs at least 18 elixir of fresh generation: 50.4 seconds in single elixir and 25.2 seconds in double. Other tracked 9,000+ builds swap in Baby Dragon, Bowler, Ice Wizard, Goblin Cage, Goblin Hut, Golden Knight or Knight.

How to defend it:

  1. Count Tornado and Lightning. Your ranged defender is safe only while both spells are out of cycle; otherwise lead with a melee answer.
  2. Bait the Tornado first. Put the cheaper unit in front (Archers, Knight or Valkyrie) and hold Electro Wizard or Firecracker until Tornado is spent.
  3. Splash the support, not the Giant. Dark Prince and Archers do most of the damage to your defenders; Valkyrie (4 elixir), Firecracker (3) or Princess (3) on them turns the push into a slow walk into tower fire.
  4. Use P.E.K.K.A at 9,000+. P.E.K.K.A ranks 1st there, and a Level 16 P.E.K.K.A survives Barbarian Barrel and the Zap Pack while landing five hits.

How do you defend classic Electro Giant (Sparky and electric builds)?

Classic Electro Giant, with no Tornado, is the version you meet from 5,000 to 9,000 trophies. Tracked examples (October 12, 2026): the all-electric build (Electro Giant, Sparky, Electro Wizard, Zappies, Zap, Electro Dragon, Electro Spirit, Tesla; 4.1 average elixir) at 5,000–6,000, and a heavy support build at 7,000–8,000 (Electro Giant, Sparky, Bowler, Executioner, Firecracker, Elite Barbarians, Guards, Boss Bandit).

Without Tornado this version cannot pull your ranged defenders in, so full-range placement works; the danger is Sparky's 1,331-damage charged shot. Handle the two separately:

  • Zap or Electro Wizard on Sparky. A stun resets Sparky's charge. Electro Wizard ranks 1st under 5,000 and is top 6 in every band, and Zap is top 10 in five of the six bands.
  • Mini P.E.K.K.A on Electro Giant, while your tower and the reset spell handle Sparky.
  • Do not overcommit air. Electro Dragon's chain lightning punishes clumped Minions or Bats, and the Zap Pack hits air units too.

How do you defend Evo Electro Giant's Level Damper?

Evo Electro Giant's Level Damper fires an expanding pulse every 6 seconds that lowers the level of every enemy troop it hits by 1. In RoyaleAPI's September 30, 2026 developer-build preview, the pulse has a 6-tile radius, deals no damage, cuts hit troops' hitpoints and damage by about 9%, skips Crown Towers, fires first 3.5 seconds after deployment and keeps its timer through stuns.

The Evolution needs 1 cycle, so if your opponent runs it in an evolution slot, every second Electro Giant they play is evolved.

  1. Lean on your Crown Towers. The pulse does not de-level Crown Towers, so pulling an evolved Electro Giant off the lane with a 4-3 building, where your Princess Tower shoots him from range, is worth more than ever.
  2. Use burst damage, not long fights. Each extra pulse your defenders sit through costs them another level. At Level 11, one level down turns P.E.K.K.A's five-hit kill into six hits (842 ÷ 1.1 ≈ 765 per hit; five hits make about 3,827, under 3,952). Mini P.E.K.K.A still needs six. Commit your killer early and stack tower damage on top.
  3. Use outranging defenders. Princess (9-tile range) can shoot from beyond the 6-tile pulse. Firecracker (6) cannot clear it, and Dart Goblin (6.5) only barely.

How do you punish Electro Giant on offense?

Electro Giant costs 7 elixir, so every time he is played, the other lane is open, and he cannot defend because he targets buildings only. The window is widest when he is placed in the back: a 4-elixir Hog Rider, a 5-elixir Royal Hogs drop or a 3-elixir Goblin Barrel in the opposite lane forces the Electro Giant player to defend with 0–3 elixir left.

  • Punish back-placed Electro Giants, not bridge ones. A bridge Electro Giant needs an answer now: defend first, then counter-push with the survivors.
  • Counter-push with the defender that killed him. A P.E.K.K.A or Mini P.E.K.K.A that survives the defense is a ready-made push, and after a 7-elixir commit the Electro Giant player rarely has the elixir to stop it cleanly.
  • Make him use Lightning on defense, so it is not there to clear your Firecracker or Dart Goblin next time.

Which decks beat Electro Giant?

No tracked deck beats Electro Giant in every trophy band. In TrophyCoach's October 12–13, 2026 archetype-matchup results, PEKKA Bridge Spam, Mega Knight Bait and Hog Cycle are all favourable against plain Electro Giant at 9,000+, but below 9,000 each is close or behind in at least one band. The four lists are tracked TrophyCoach decks (October 12, 2026) that carry two or more measured counters; verdicts are the label-level results per band, percentages withheld.

When does Battle Ram PEKKA Bridge Spam beat Electro Giant?

Battle Ram PEKKA Bridge Spam beats Electro Giant at 9,000+, where it is favourable against both Electro Giant and E-Giant Tornado; at 5,000–7,000 it is unfavourable. The list runs P.E.K.K.A, Battle Ram, Electro Wizard, Royal Ghost, Bandit, Magic Archer, Fireball and Zap (3.9 average elixir). It carries the 9,000+ #1 counter (P.E.K.K.A) plus Electro Wizard, top 10 in all six bands, while Royal Ghost and Bandit punish the empty lane. The Bridge Spam counter guide covers the deck from the other side.

When does Goblin Barrel Mega Knight Bait beat Electro Giant?

Goblin Barrel Mega Knight Bait beats plain Electro Giant at 9,000+ and is within one step of even below that: slightly favourable under 5,000 and at 7,000–8,000, slightly unfavourable at 5,000–6,000. The list runs Mega Knight, Dart Goblin, Goblin Gang, Bats, Goblin Cage, Goblin Barrel, Skeleton Barrel and Zap (3.4 average elixir). Five of its eight cards appear in the measured counter tables: Mega Knight's jump clears the support, Dart Goblin shoots from 6.5 tiles, and Goblin Barrel punishes the other lane for 3 elixir. The Mega Knight counter guide covers the deck from the other side.

When does Hog Cycle beat Electro Giant?

Hog Cycle beats Electro Giant from 8,000 trophies up — slightly favourable at 8,000–9,000, favourable at 9,000+ — and is roughly even to unfavourable below 8,000; against E-Giant Tornado it is unfavourable at 7,000–8,000 and 9,000+. The tracked list is Hog Rider, Executioner, Valkyrie, Goblins, Ice Spirit, Rocket, Tornado and The Log (3.4 average elixir). Hog Rider plus its four cheapest cards (Ice Spirit, Goblins, The Log, Tornado) loops back every 12 elixir, 6 shorter than the 18-elixir E-Giant Tornado loop above, and Executioner, Valkyrie and The Log are all in the counter tables. Do not bring Hog EQ to this matchup: it is hard against Electro Giant in both bands with a result. The Hog Cycle counter guide covers the Hog side.

Is Royal Hogs Recruits good against Electro Giant?

Royal Hogs Recruits is good only against E-Giant Tornado at 9,000+, where it is favourable; against plain Electro Giant it is slightly unfavourable at 5,000–7,000 and hard at 7,000–8,000. The list runs Royal Recruits, Royal Hogs, Zappies, Flying Machine, Goblin Cage, Fireball, Barbarian Barrel and Arrows (4.1 average elixir). Zappies (ranked 2nd at 9,000+) stun Electro Giant from 4.5 tiles, and the split-lane Royal Hogs force him to defend both lanes. Both decks are heavy: if you spend 7 elixir on Royal Recruits as he crosses the bridge, you cannot defend him. The Royal Hogs counter guide covers the deck from the other side.

What changed for Electro Giant in Season 88?

Electro Giant was not changed in the October 6, 2026 balance patch; Season 88 changed him through his Level 16 boost, the new Evolution and the cards around him. The full October 6 patch is in the Shocktober Season 88 guide.

CardChangeOldNew% Change
Electro GiantEvolution added (Level Damper)—Pulse every 6 seconds, −1 levelNew
Barbarian BarrelDamage232215−8%
CannonEvo barrage damage281261−7%
Royal GhostHitpoints1,2101,152−5%
Golden KnightDamage161168+5%
Golden KnightDash range5.5 tiles5 tiles−9%

Impact: significant. Evo Electro Giant's Level Damper is the biggest Electro Giant change of 2026: every second Electro Giant is evolved and lowers your defenders a level every 6 seconds, so long defensive fights go worse than in Season 87.

Impact: small. Barbarian Barrel's damage falls from 232 to 215, and all five E-Giant Tornado lists in the 9,000+ tracked top 60 run it, so its cheap answer to your counter-pushing ground troops is slightly weaker. Evo Cannon's barrage (281 → 261) touches both an E-Giant Tornado building and a 5,000–6,000 measured counter.

Impact: small. Hero Electro Wizard adds a 2-elixir Surging Strikes ability whose dual beams stun and damage the two closest enemies for 3 seconds, giving a card ranked top 6 against Electro Giant in every band another way to stop him and his support. Keep it at full range; the Zap Pack still hits it inside 3 tiles.

Impact: small. Royal Ghost loses 58 hitpoints (1,210 → 1,152), slightly weakening the Bridge Spam counter-push. Golden Knight's rework leaves him a fast hitter that takes the Zap Pack badly.

Earlier 2026 changes to Electro Giant himself (Level 11): May 4 (hit speed 2.1s → 1.8s, first hit 1.5s → 1s, Crown Tower zap damage 50 → 38) and July 6 (hitpoints 3,855 → 3,952). The May 2026 Electro Giant guide covers the May buff.

What are the most common mistakes against Electro Giant?

Electro Giant punishes six habits that work against other tanks, mostly because of the 3-tile Zap Pack.

Mistake 1: defending at your Princess Tower. Once Electro Giant reaches the tower, the tower is inside 3 tiles and gets zapped and stunned for 0.5 seconds on every shot. Fix: meet him at the bridge or pull him off the lane with a 4-3 building, so he never reaches the tower itself.

Mistake 2: stacking ranged defenders together. A single 3-elixir Tornado (5.5-tile radius) pulls clumped Electro Wizard, Musketeer and Archers into the Zap Pack. Fix: spread them so one Tornado cannot gather two.

Mistake 3: using fast hitters. Golden Knight, Lumberjack, Monk, Phoenix and Berserker take a stun on every hit, so their damage per second collapses. Fix: use slow, heavy hitters such as Mini P.E.K.K.A (one 755-damage hit every 1.6 seconds) or P.E.K.K.A.

Mistake 4: raging melee defenders. Rage makes a melee defender swing faster, but every swing inside 3 tiles still triggers a reflected zap and a 0.5-second stun, so it takes reflected damage faster and loses much of the speed-up; the Clash Royale wiki advises against it. Fix: if you Rage on defense, Rage the ranged units standing outside 3 tiles.

Mistake 5: sitting through Level Damper pulses. Against Evo Electro Giant, each 6-second pulse lowers your troops by another level. Fix: kill him fast with burst plus tower fire instead of a slow chip fight.

Mistake 6: not punishing 7 elixir in the other lane. A back-placed Electro Giant leaves the opponent 0–3 elixir for the other lane. Fix: send Hog Rider, Royal Hogs or Goblin Barrel on the far side right away.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best card to counter Electro Giant?

Mini P.E.K.K.A is the most consistent Electro Giant counter, top 5 in all six trophy bands on TrophyCoach's counter table for October 6–12, 2026. It costs 4 elixir and kills a Level 11 Electro Giant in six 755-damage hits, one stun per hit.

Does Inferno Tower counter Electro Giant?

Inferno Tower counters Electro Giant only when it melts him before he reaches it, and it is in no band's top 10 on TrophyCoach's counter table. Place it 4 tiles from the river and 3 from your Crown Tower, because once he is within 3 tiles every tick triggers the Zap Pack's 0.5-second stun and resets the beam.

Did Electro Giant get nerfed in October 2026?

Electro Giant was not changed in the October 6, 2026 balance patch; his last change was the July 6, 2026 buff (Level 11 hitpoints 3,855 → 3,952). Season 88 added Evo Electro Giant instead.

How does Evo Electro Giant's Level Damper work?

Evo Electro Giant's Level Damper releases a pulse every 6 seconds that lowers every enemy troop it hits by 1 level. RoyaleAPI's preview puts the radius at 6 tiles and the stat loss at about 9% per level, with Crown Towers unaffected. If your opponent runs the Evolution, every second Electro Giant is evolved, because it needs 1 cycle.

How do I beat E-Giant Tornado at 9,000 trophies?

E-Giant Tornado holds 6.12% popularity at 9,000+ (October 12, 2026), where P.E.K.K.A ranks 1st against Electro Giant. Spread ranged defenders so one 5.5-tile Tornado cannot pull two, and play your best one after Lightning is used.

Why does my Princess Tower stop shooting Electro Giant?

Electro Giant's Zap Pack stuns any unit that damages him from within 3 tiles for 0.5 seconds, and that includes your Princess Tower once he reaches it. The stun slows the tower, so pull him off the lane with a 4-3 building.

Is Electro Giant good in October 2026?

Electro Giant peaks at 7.34% popularity at 7,000–8,000 trophies in the October 12, 2026 meta snapshot, and at 9,000+ the E-Giant Tornado build takes over at 6.12%. The free Evo Electro Giant from the Shocktober Album Event (October 6 – November 2, 2026) adds the Level Damper on every second play.

**Methodology:** Counter rankings come from TrophyCoach's win-condition counter table (`win_condition_counters`), built from ranked ladder battles between October 6 and 12, 2026 (after the October 6 balance patch). A card is listed only if at least 100 battles exist both with and without it in the opposing deck and Electro Giant decks did worse when it was present. Win-rate figures are withheld while those trophy bands are unpublished. Popularity is the share of battles in each band's newest meta_trends snapshot (October 12, 2026). Card stats are Level 11 figures from TrophyCoach's card-stats dataset; patch changes are from Supercell's release notes as recorded in TrophyCoach's balance registry. The Zap Pack radius, stun and reflection rules come from the Clash Royale wiki. Evo Electro Giant figures beyond the 6-second, 1-level pulse come from RoyaleAPI's September 30, 2026 developer-build preview. Deck lists are TrophyCoach tracked decks as of October 12, 2026; deck verdicts are TrophyCoach's archetype-matchup results of October 12–13, 2026 (rolling windows of 7 days, 10 at 8,000–9,000 and 14 at 9,000+), percentages withheld.
