Quick answer: The most reliable way to counter Sparky is to reset its charge with a stun from Zap or Electro Wizard, then kill it with a swarm or a 4-elixir Mini P.E.K.K.A; Electro Wizard and Skeleton Army are the only two cards in the top-10 measured Sparky counters of all 6 trophy bands.

Sparky is a 6-elixir Legendary ground troop that fires one charged splash shot every 4 seconds: 1,331 damage at level 11 in a 1.8-tile radius, at 5 tiles of range, against ground troops and buildings but never air. It has 1,451 hitpoints at level 11, and any stun (Zap, Electro Wizard, Electro Spirit, Electro Dragon, Lightning) resets its charge. No balance patch from May 4 to October 6, 2026 changed Sparky. In the October 6–12 ranked sample the Sparky label holds 0.72% popularity under 5,000 trophies and 0.99% at 5,000–6,000, and it falls out of the 30 most-played archetypes above 6,000. Electro Wizard is the #1 measured counter in three bands and top-4 in all six; Skeleton Army is top-7 in all six. The 9,000+ Goblin Giant Sparky list averages 3.6 elixir.

Which cards counter Sparky?
Sparky's measured counters fall into four groups: stuns that reset its charge, swarms it cannot clear in one shot, bodies that survive a level-11 shot (1,331 damage), and ranged cards that outrange its 5 tiles. Each table covers every deck that carries Sparky, whatever its archetype label, ranked by how much those decks' results drop when the opponent holds the card. The ranks are a deck-level association, not proof of cause. The Role column is editorial and states card facts at level 11.

What do the six counter tables have in common?
Electro Wizard and Skeleton Army are the only two cards in all six tables. Electro Wizard is #1 under 5,000, at 5,000–6,000 and at 6,000–7,000, #3 at 7,000–9,000 and #4 at 9,000+. Skeleton Army is #2 in four bands, #3 under 5,000 and #7 at 9,000+. Five cards appear in five tables each: Mega Knight, Valkyrie and Mini P.E.K.K.A (all five bands below 9,000), Princess (all but 5,000–6,000) and Zap (all but under 5,000). Firecracker appears in the four bands from 5,000 to 9,000 and is #1 at 8,000–9,000.
A stun or a swarm answers Sparky for 1–4 elixir against its 6. The 9,000+ table is the odd one out. Inferno Tower (#2), Rocket (#3), Skeleton Dragons (#5) and Tombstone (#6) appear in no other band, which likely reflects that most tracked 9,000+ Sparky lists put Sparky behind a Goblin Giant or Giant: Inferno Tower melts the tank, Rocket kills a same-level Sparky outright, and Skeleton Dragons fly over Sparky's shot. Check any pair the tables leave out in the Counter Lookup tool.

Where do you meet Sparky?
— = not among that band's 30 most-played archetypes in the latest snapshot (not zero; meta_trends stores the top 30 only).
Sparky is a low-ladder archetype by label: it reaches the 30 most-played archetypes only under 5,000 (0.72%, sample 1,332) and at 5,000–6,000 (0.99%, sample 1,688). Goblin Giant Sparky reaches the top 30 in no band. A dash means "below the cut", not "absent": tracked Sparky lists exist in every band, and many Sparky decks carry another label (see the deck table below).
What is Sparky and why does it win?
Sparky is a 6-elixir Legendary troop that is placed on your own side only, moves slowly and attacks ground troops and buildings. The numbers in TrophyCoach's card data are:
- Hitpoints: 1,451 at level 11; 2,319 at level 16.
- Damage: 1,331 per shot at level 11 (2,126 at level 16), the same against Crown Towers, in a 1.8-tile splash radius.
- Hit speed: one shot every 4 seconds, after a 3-second charge.
- Range: 5 tiles. Sparky cannot target air troops at all.
A stun resets the charge, so Sparky has to wait through the charge again. Sparky wins games for three reasons:
- One shot deletes most defenders. At level 11, 1,331 damage kills Musketeer, Wizard, Executioner, Princess, Firecracker, Dart Goblin, every Spirit, Goblins, Spear Goblins and every Goblin Gang body, plus Electro Wizard (1,141 HP even at its boosted Level 16), and it clears a group in one 1.8-tile blast.
- It turns a tank into a tower threat. Behind a Goblin Giant (3,110 HP at level 11) or a Giant (3,968), Sparky reaches your tower while you spend elixir on the tank, and each shot that lands takes 1,331 off it.
- It punishes decks without a stun. Ground-only decks with no Zap, Electro Wizard or air troop have to trade bodies for every shot.
Sparky loses when it is stunned on a loop, swarmed after it fires, or attacked by air troops.
Which Sparky decks will you face?
Sparky decks get one of two Sparky labels in TrophyCoach's classifier: with Goblin Giant they are Goblin Giant Sparky, otherwise Sparky (a third, Giant Sparky, is never assigned: the Giant rule fires first, so those decks are Giant Beatdown). A deck that also holds a higher-priority card takes that card's label instead: Giant (Giant Beatdown or Giant Double Prince), Elite Barbarians (E-Barbs Rage), Goblin Barrel (Goblin Barrel Bait), Golem, Electro Giant, Mega Knight, Royal Hogs and others. These are TrophyCoach tracked decks on October 12, 2026.
The two lists with the largest tracked samples in that table are not labelled Sparky at all. The Goblin Barrel list is covered in the Goblin Barrel bait counter guide and the Giant Skeleton counter guide; the Elite Barbarians list in the Elite Barbarians counter guide.
How do you place your counters against Sparky?
Sparky placement comes down to one rule: never let a full charge land on something you need. Every defense either stops the shot (a stun) or wastes it (a spread-out swarm, a tank that survives it, or an air troop it cannot target).
How do you reset Sparky's charge with Zap or Electro Wizard?
Zap and Electro Wizard reset Sparky's charge; timing is the skill. Sparky glows as it charges; Zap it (2 elixir, 2.5-tile radius) when the glow is full, not the moment it lands, or it simply charges again in 3 seconds. Electro Wizard is the stronger answer because it stuns on deploy and then every 1.8 seconds, faster than Sparky's 3-second charge, so an Electro Wizard locked on Sparky keeps it from firing at all.
Electro Wizard is one of Season 88's boosted cards, so it plays at Level 16 this season, with 1,141 hitpoints. That is still less than one level-11 Sparky shot (1,331). Electro Wizard's 5-tile range equals Sparky's, so place it where its deploy stun lands on Sparky: never in front of a Sparky that has already charged. Electro Spirit, also boosted this season, gives the same one-off reset for 1 elixir.
Where should Skeleton Army and Goblin Gang go?
Skeleton Army (3 elixir, 15 Skeletons) and Goblin Gang (3 elixir, 6 bodies) beat Sparky when they arrive right after it fires. Sparky's splash covers 1.8 tiles, so a swarm dropped on top of Sparky spreads around it, and one shot cannot hit every body. Drop the swarm the moment Sparky's shot goes off; the swarm then has the full 4-second gap to kill it.
Against Goblin Giant Sparky, keep the swarm away from Goblin Giant's two Spear Goblins and from Zap, the most common spell in Sparky lists. A zapped Skeleton Army is gone; if you saw Zap used in the last cycle, use Goblin Gang or a tank instead.
Which troops survive a Sparky shot?
Mega Knight (3,993 HP at level 11), Valkyrie (1,907), Knight (1,766), Inferno Tower (1,748) and Mini P.E.K.K.A (1,390) survive one level-11 Sparky shot at the same level. Mini P.E.K.K.A survives by 59 hitpoints and kills Sparky in 2 hits (755 × 2 = 1,510 against 1,451), so place it so it reaches Sparky before the second shot.
Which ranged cards outrange Sparky?
Princess (9 tiles), Magic Archer (7), Dart Goblin (6.5), Firecracker (6) and Wizard (5.5) all outrange Sparky's 5 tiles. Place them behind your Princess Tower so they shoot Sparky without entering its range; each dies to one shot if Sparky gets close.
Can you kill Sparky with a spell?
Rocket is the only common spell that kills Sparky outright at the same level: 1,485 damage against 1,451 hitpoints at level 11. Lightning (1,057) leaves it alive but stuns it and resets the charge. Fireball (689) and Zap (192) together still leave Sparky on 570, so a spell answer needs a troop too. Rocket appears in the 9,000+ counter table at #3.
Should you answer Sparky with air troops?
Air troops are the cheapest permanent answer because Sparky cannot target them. Minions (3 elixir), Mega Minion (3), Skeleton Dragons (4), Inferno Dragon (4) and Electro Dragon (5) all hit Sparky with zero risk from its shot. Electro Dragon is the measured #8 under 5,000 and adds a stun; Skeleton Dragons are #5 at 9,000+ and Inferno Dragon #10 at 6,000–7,000. Goblin Giant's Spear Goblins, Electro Wizard and Zap still hit air.
How do you defend the Goblin Giant Sparky, Giant Sparky and plain Sparky versions?
Every Sparky version has the same weak point, a charge that a stun resets, but the tank in front of it decides what you spend your elixir on.
How do you defend Goblin Giant Sparky?
Goblin Giant Sparky (Goblin Giant, Sparky, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Dark Prince, Electro Wizard, Zap, Rage, Heal Spirit; 3.6 elixir) sends Goblin Giant first and places Sparky behind it, often with Rage. Goblin Giant has 3,110 hitpoints at level 11 and targets buildings only, while the two Spear Goblins on its back shoot air and ground; they drop off and keep fighting when it dies. Rage speeds up Sparky's movement and attack, so it fires sooner.
Defend in this order:
- Inferno Tower or Inferno Dragon on Goblin Giant. Inferno Tower survives one same-level Sparky shot (1,748 HP at level 11). Expect Electro Wizard or Zap to reset the Inferno; hold a second answer.
- A stun or swarm on Sparky as it crosses into your half, timed after its first shot.
- A small spell on the Spear Goblins and Heal Spirit only once the tank is dead.
This 12-elixir push (6 + 6) leaves the other lane open; Hog Cycle records an unfavourable result against Goblin Giant Sparky at 9,000+, so out-cycling it is not automatic.
How do you defend Giant Sparky?
Giant Sparky is labelled Giant Beatdown, and the beatdown counter guide covers it. In short: kill the Giant (3,968 HP at level 11) with Mini P.E.K.K.A or Inferno Tower, reset Sparky with Zap or Electro Wizard, and spread your defenders so Tornado cannot pull them into one blast.
How do you defend Elite Barbarians with Goblin Giant Sparky?
The Elite Barbarians version (Goblin Giant, Sparky, Elite Barbarians, Dark Prince, Electro Wizard, Heal Spirit, Zap, Rage; 3.9 elixir) is labelled E-Barbs Rage and is tracked in all five bands from 5,000 trophies up. Its first threat is Elite Barbarians at the bridge; the Elite Barbarians counter guide covers that defense. Elite Barbarians and Sparky both hit ground only, so one air troop (Minions, Mega Minion or Skeleton Dragons) answers either half. The list's air defense is Electro Wizard, Zap, Goblin Giant's Spear Goblins and Heal Spirit, so hold your air answer until Zap has been spent.
How do you defend plain Sparky control decks?
Plain Sparky lists (Sparky Bandit 4.4 elixir, Sparky Witch 4.3, Battle Ram Sparky 4.3, Sparky Monk 4.5) hold Sparky back as a defender, let your push walk into it, and counterpush with the survivors. Make them place Sparky first: at 4.3–4.5 average elixir these decks cannot defend both lanes, so a 6-elixir Sparky dropped in one lane is a cue to pressure the other. Never push ground troops into a waiting Sparky; draw its shot first (see the offense section below).
How do you defend Sparky Clone Barrel?
Sparky Clone Barrel (Sparky, Giant Skeleton, Clone, Minion Horde, Skeleton Army, Goblin Barrel, Tesla, Arrows; 4.1 elixir) is labelled Goblin Barrel Bait and is tracked from 5,000 to 9,000+. The Giant Skeleton counter guide and the Goblin Barrel bait counter guide cover it. Save Arrows or Zap for a cloned Minion Horde and reset a cloned Sparky with your stun.
How do you punish Sparky on offense?
Sparky is punished through its cost and its speed. Every Sparky placement is a 6-elixir commitment, a Goblin Giant Sparky push is 12, and Sparky walks slowly. That is your window.
When should you attack the opposite lane?
Attack the opposite lane the moment the opponent places Sparky at the back. Sparky is slow and starts on its own side. A Hog Rider, Royal Hogs or Goblin Barrel in the other lane forces either a defense without Sparky or tower damage. Hog Cycle records favourable results against decks labelled Sparky at 5,000–7,000 and 8,000–9,000.
How do you push into a defensive Sparky?
Push into a defensive Sparky with the shot already spent. Send a cheap bait first (Ice Golem, Knight or a Skeleton) to draw the 1,331-damage shot (level 11), then commit your main troops during the 4-second gap. An air win condition such as Balloon or Lava Hound skips the problem entirely, because Sparky cannot target it, though Electro Wizard and Wizard still hit air.

Which decks beat Sparky?
Goblin Barrel Bait, Hog Cycle, Mega Knight and Electro Giant have the best records against decks labelled Sparky in TrophyCoach's October 2026 archetype head-to-head data, and Miner Control the worst. Percentages are withheld; a band is listed only where the pairing had enough games, and the records cover the Sparky label only.
No band has a measured result against the Sparky label at 9,000+. For more on each, see the guides on Hog Cycle, Mega Knight, Electro Giant and Royal Hogs. Tune your own list in Deck Doctor.
Which decks struggle against Sparky?
Miner Control struggles most against Sparky: it records a hard matchup against decks labelled Sparky both under 5,000 and at 5,000–6,000. Hog Cycle is unfavourable against Sparky under 5,000 and against Goblin Giant Sparky at 9,000+, its only measured result against that label; it improves in the bands between. If you play Miner Control, carry a stun for Sparky and send Miner to the opposite lane while Sparky walks.
What changed for Sparky in Season 88?
Impact: none. Sparky was not changed in the October 6, 2026 Season 88 balance patch, nor in any balance patch from May 4 to October 6, 2026. Its level-11 numbers today are 1,451 hitpoints and 1,331 damage per shot. Goblin Giant's last change was a June 1, 2026 buff: hitpoints 3,020 → 3,110 (+3%).
Which Sparky deck cards changed?
Impact: small. Season 88 changed six cards in tracked Sparky lists on October 6, 2026:
- Royal Ghost: hitpoints 1,210 → 1,152 (−5%), in a 6,000–7,000 Witch Sparky list.
- Golden Knight (rework): damage 161 → 168 (+5%), dash range 5.5 → 5 tiles (−9%), in an 8,000–9,000 Monk Sparky list.
- Monk: ability cast time 0.93s → 0.7s (−25%), in both Sparky Monk lists.
- Goblin Barrel: first hit speed 0.4s → 0.3s (−25%), in Sparky Clone Barrel.
- Elite Barbarians Evolution: bug fix, spear sight range 4.5 → 6 tiles (+33%), for E-Barbs Goblin Giant Sparky players who run the Evolution.
- Skeletons: tighter spawn spread, in Giant Sparky.
Earlier: Dark Prince's hit speed slowed 1.3s → 1.4s (May 4), Rage's Crown Tower damage fell 54 → 45 (June 1), Heal Spirit's hitpoints fell 230 → 215 (August 3). On September 8, Wizard's damage rose 281 → 304 (+8%), Battle Ram's sight range 5.5 → 6.5 tiles and Spirit Empress's damage 309 → 320; the Elite Barbarians Evolution's spear range and rage duration were cut.
Which counter cards changed?
Impact: small. Electro Wizard and Electro Spirit are Season 88 boosted cards: each plays at Level 16 all season, whatever your level. Electro Giant is boosted too. Electro Spirit's level-11 hitpoints fell 230 → 215 (−6%) on August 3, 2026, and it no longer connects to Crown Towers solo. Electro Dragon's hitpoints rose 998 → 1,049 (+5%) on June 1, and Skeleton Dragons' damage fell 161 → 151 (−6%) on May 4. Skeleton Army, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Firecracker and Inferno Tower were not changed between May 4 and October 6, 2026.
What are the most common mistakes against Sparky?
Mistake 1 — Zapping Sparky the moment it lands. A reset on an uncharged Sparky wastes 2 elixir; it charges again in 3 seconds. Fix: Zap when the glow is full, just before the shot.
Mistake 2 — Dropping a swarm into a charged shot. A fully charged Sparky deletes every Skeleton in a 1.8-tile blast. Fix: place Skeleton Army or Goblin Gang right after Sparky fires.
Mistake 3 — Stacking ranged troops in front of the tank. Princess, Dart Goblin, Firecracker and a Level 16 Electro Wizard (1,141 HP) all die to one level-11 Sparky shot (1,331). Fix: keep ranged troops behind your tower, outside Sparky's 5 tiles.
Mistake 4 — Spending everything on Goblin Giant. Goblin Giant's 3,110 hitpoints (level 11) are bait; Sparky walking behind it is the damage. Fix: one answer for the tank, one stun or swarm saved for Sparky.
Mistake 5 — Pushing ground troops into a waiting Sparky. One level-11 shot (1,331 damage) turns your push into their counterpush. Fix: draw the shot with a cheap card, or lead with air troops.
Frequently Asked Questions
Did Sparky get nerfed in October 2026?
Sparky was not changed in the October 6, 2026 Season 88 patch or in any patch since May 4, 2026. At level 11 it still has 1,451 hitpoints and deals 1,331 damage per shot every 4 seconds.
What is the best card to counter Sparky?
Electro Wizard is the most consistent measured counter to Sparky: top-4 in all 6 trophy bands and #1 in 3. It stuns every 1.8 seconds, faster than Sparky's 3-second charge, and plays at Level 16 in Season 88 as a boosted card.
Does Zap reset Sparky?
Zap resets Sparky's charge, as do Electro Wizard, Electro Spirit, Electro Dragon and Lightning. Zap costs 2 elixir and is top-10 against Sparky in 5 of 6 trophy bands; cast it when Sparky is fully charged.
Can Sparky hit air troops?
Sparky cannot hit air troops. Minions (3 elixir), Mega Minion (3), Skeleton Dragons (4) and Inferno Dragon (4) attack it with no risk from its shot (1,331 damage at level 11).
Does Mini P.E.K.K.A beat Sparky?
Mini P.E.K.K.A beats Sparky at equal levels: it survives one shot with 59 hitpoints to spare (1,390 against 1,331 at level 11) and kills Sparky in 2 hits. It is a top-10 measured counter in the five bands below 9,000.
How do you counter Goblin Giant Sparky?
Goblin Giant Sparky is countered by killing Goblin Giant (3,110 HP at level 11) with Inferno Tower or Inferno Dragon and saving a stun or swarm for Sparky. The push costs 12 elixir, so pressure the opposite lane once it is committed.
How do you beat Sparky under 5,000 trophies?
Sparky holds 0.72% popularity under 5,000 trophies, where Electro Wizard (806 battles) and Executioner (168 battles) are the #1 and #2 measured counters. Goblin Barrel Bait records a slightly favourable result against decks labelled Sparky in that band; Hog Cycle an unfavourable one.
